About

The Policies and Procedures (P&P) Special Interest Group (SIG) is a virtual community of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). We meet once a year at the STC Summit.

History

The P&P SIG, founded in 1993, is the world’s largest and longest existing group dedicated to the discipline of policies and procedures communication. It is the only non-profit group of professionals dedicated to this specialty.

Mission

The P&P SIG provides opportunities for its members to (a) develop their expertise in and (b) promote the discipline of policies and procedures communication through networking, presentations, publications and professional support.

We provide and support education, publications, resources, conference sessions, and networking opportunities on policies and procedures for our members, and to a limited extent, to non-members.

Membership

Membership in the Policies and Procedures SIG is open to all STC members in good standing.  As of September 2020, our SIG  has approximately 276 members worldwide. We work in diverse industries such as agriculture, banking, education, energy, finance, government, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, technology, and utilities. We are responsible for documenting and communicating policies and procedures for accounting, engineering, human resources, information technology, instructional design, marketing, purchasing, quality assurance, safety, and various other areas.
